I came to Lancaster in September 2007 with three other students from Mumbai, India as a direct-entry student through the Welingkar-Lancaster undergraduate partnership. I chose Lancaster over other universities as it was more renowned and ranked higher than the other institutions. The Management School especially has a very good reputation and has many top faculty members, one of the reasons that affected my decision to come to Lancaster.
I pursued a BSc in Business Studies at Lancaster, with a joint specialism in Accounting and Finance and Economics. When choosing my specialism, I had a lot of help from the Course Director, Paul Taylor, who made the whole process simple while taking care that we each chose what was best for us. Apart from the academic aspect, the other staff on the programme were also very supportive in helping us adjust and made sure that we were comfortable in our new environment.
The Accounting and Finance and Economics departments are run by very efficient staff and highly qualified faculty members who were always willing to help whenever we needed any assistance with any academic problems. This made the learning process easier and more enjoyable. It was a privilege to learn from famous academics at Lancaster who shared their very valuable knowledge and were a great help to us.
During the course of my degree, I was a member of many societies, including the Ballroom Dancing Society, which not only allowed me to learn various forms of dance but also to meet many new people. I was also part of the Asian Society and enjoyed attending various cultural events organised by them which made me feel closer to home.
While being at Lancaster, I made some very close friends who made the Lancaster experience more enjoyable and memorable for me. Following my degree, I decided to pursue an MSc in Marketing Management at Aston University, Birmingham. Everything that I learnt at Lancaster in the academic and practical life has been a great help to me while studying at Aston and I know it will be beneficial also in my future endeavours.
