I chose to study at LUMS because of its excellent reputation, the quality of teaching and its track record for graduate employment.
The BSc Business Studies degree appealed to me because of the variety it offered. It allowed you to focus on specific areas or have a generalist overview of a lot of aspects of the business world.
As a commuting student, I tended to stay involved with my local clubs and societies in Longridge near Preston. I worked part-time at Booths supermarket throughout my degree, through which I gained a lot of business experience which was invaluable when it came to interviews.
Overall, my experience at Lancaster was excellent. As with anything, you get out of it what you are prepared to put in. If you work hard, Lancaster University will provide all the resources and support you need to succeed. The phrase “work hard, play hard” is definitely applicable.
My advice to new students is to choose your module options carefully, look into the details of each module’s content to see if it is for you. Don’t let anything intimidate you, some days are going to be hard but there is always help available. Do not panic. Enjoy yourself - the satisfaction of knowing you have worked hard and got involved with activities is something you will cherish once you look back on your time at Lancaster.
I have secured a graduate role with PricewaterhouseCoopers at their Manchester Office, working in the audit assurance department whilst also training for my ACA qualification with the ICAEW.
