Before coming to Lancaster, I studied Business Administration with the Association of Business Executives at the Zambia Insurance Business College Trust (ZIBCT) in Lusaka - a period that sparked my interest in Economics.
The British Council in Zambia recommended that I apply to Lancaster University as they knew of other Zambians who had studied at Lancaster and who now had very good jobs. I decided to study at Lancaster University because the Management School has a high reputation. Having studied here, I would say it definitely deserves this high ranking and I am pleased to say that Lancaster University was the right choice for me.
I was also drawn to Lancaster by the collegiate system and the fact that the University is campus based. The beautiful landscape surrounding the University gave a pleasant view from my flat window which I came to appreciate, especially at the end of a very busy day!
Studying Economics with Finance was incredibly demanding, but highly rewarding. As a joint major, the subjects are complementary and gave me a wider understanding of topics in each field. The quality of the teaching at Lancaster is outstanding. I felt honoured to be taught by people who are widely recognised in their fields. In my final year I was a student representative for third-year economics students and found that lecturers were approachable and interested in students’ concerns at an individual level.
After graduating, I spent a few months travelling before studying for a Masters degree in Applied Economics at the University of Westminster and am now working as a Researcher at the National Audit Office in Newcastle.
