If you want to find a peaceful place to study, Lancaster University would be the answer; if you want to study in a prestigious business school, LUMS is definitely your choice.
In 2003 I finished my foundation course at Stafford House College in Canterbury. I went to Lancaster University one weekend but I missed the open day! However, there was an international officer who showed me around the University and gave me a very warm welcome and a comprehensive introduction. It was so impressive that I immediately excluded other universities from my list! I believed Lancaster would be the university that would help me a lot in every aspect of life, study, career, and socially.
In my first two years, I spent most of my spare time when I wasn't studying in part-time jobs, and ultimately, one of these part-time jobs led me to finding my graduate job in a local service company, Lara Nichols Ltd. Some of my friends think I am lucky, I told them that without the LUSU job centre (the employment agency provided by Lancaster University's Student Union), I probably would not have had the chance to start my graduate job immediately after graduation.
In my final year studying Accounting and Finance, most of my time was spent studying, just like most of the other students. In 2006 I became a Student Representative, and helped reflect the voice of students to the Accounting and Finance Department relating to their academic studies. Meanwhile, I registered as a CIMA student and became a board member of its North West Student Support Group.
My classmates have also found good jobs. Some of them found their jobs in the Big Four accounting firms, others with investment banks and blue chip companies, while others are carrying on their studies at Masters level at Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Imperial and so on.
Lancaster University is a place to achieve your dream. My friends did, I did. What is your choice?
