Full-time MBA, 2008
Country of origin: China
Employer: CITIC
Before I attended the Lancaster Full-time MBA course I had a position that was purely as a finance person. My first Masters degree – from Peking University – is in Finance, and my subsequent job with CITIC, a leading Chinese conglomerate, involved financing from capital markets, financial restructuring and funding transactions.
The Lancaster MBA programme provided me with different skills – comprehensive business knowledge, practical experience, a sense of social responsibility and a much wider understanding of the process of ‘managing’.
To complete my programme I undertook a ten-week internship with Lehman Brothers in London, culminating in a dissertation.
The investment bank’s expertise impressed me despite the unfortunate events that happened to the company soon after my internship. I was lucky enough before those unhappy days to get a chance to implement my technical skills and industry experience as well as to learn from the bankers.
After being shaped into a ‘mindful manager’, which is a core thread running through the MBA year, I rejoined CITIC, my previous company, to take on new challenges.
