MSc Money, Banking and Finance, 2010
Country of origin: China
Employer: Bank of China Investment Management Company
I had been working as a senior business news reporter in China for four years when I decided that I wanted to study abroad. One of my friends who won a Chevening Scholarship and studied at LUMS recommended Lancaster University to me.
As he said, if you are looking for a truly international experience and a peaceful yet busy campus life, please go for Lancaster University. And so I did! I came to the University in 2009 and studied the MSc Money, Banking and Finance. One of the main reasons for choosing the programme was because of my great interest in researching the ongoing global financial crisis.
The University and the programme provided an excellent platform to discuss and reflect on the global financial crisis. Case studies are crucial for understanding the crisis. During my degree, I had the chance to conduct in-depth research with experts from UK financial sectors. I was also exposed to professional analysis tools which enabled me to undertake further study.
My experience at Lancaster University Management School benefited my career a great deal – I now work as a senior manager in China’s mutual fund industry.Today I am a Senior PR Manager for the Bank of China Investment Management Company. As a leader in China’s mutual fund market, BOCIM is a joint venture between the Bank of China and Black Rock. I am looking forward to contributing more to upgrade the profile of China’s mutual fund industry and promoting investors’ education in China.
