Undertaking the ITMOC programme allowed me to understand how technology is no ‘silver bullet’ and that its development, implementation and use implies several organisational and management adjustments. The quality of the teaching on the ITMOC programme is exceptional. Not only are there lectures which are typically related to the research and professional expertise of the professors, but also opportunities to work through specific cases and to engage in hands on problem solving exercises. This coupled with the differing types of coursework allowed me to discover (and understand) many different conceptual and practical angles on IT, management and organisations. In this sense, the Management School, and the ITMOC programme specifically, has lived up to its international reputation in terms of teaching and research quality through its experienced faculty body.

Having chosen ITMOC as my masters degree programme has helped me to differentiate myself from other IT management graduates in the sense that the curriculum appears more “rounded” (i.e. complete) than those of other universities. Though the course was demanding, it introduced me to issues that I never imagined could exist.

After graduating from the ITMOC programme I enrolled a full-time PhD in Management at Lancaster University Management School, where I focused on issues I learned while on the ITMOC programme. Specifically I looked at the role of extranet technology in inter-organisational knowledge sharing. This research theme arose directly from the ITMOC programme.

I now work for IBM as a University Relations Manager, and I also teach corporate strategy on the MBA programme at EGADE Business School.
