PhD in Management Science 2007
Country of origin: China
Employer: Arhus School of Business

After I obtained my Masters degree in Management Science in 1997, I worked as a lecturer in the School of Business Administration at Northeastern University in China. At that time, I realized that if I wanted to chase a good academic career, I really had to study further, and gaining a doctorate was absolutely necessary. So, I went to the UK and chose to do my PhD at Lancaster University Management School between 2003 and 2007.

Actually, I was quite lucky. My PhD in Management Science was fully funded by the Department of Management Science and Lancaster University Management School. My research was Capacity Optimization for Supply Chains, utlising operational research (OR) techniques, game theory, quantitative methods etc. LUMS and the department of Management Science provided me with the best support – both physical and intellectual – during my study. I worked with outstanding academics on my PhD, and I definitely derived a great deal of benefit from what I learnt from them.

Lancaster is such a nice town in which to study and enjoy a country life. The University campus provides excellent facilities and living conditions for student life. I met a lot of nice people and made good friends there.

Currently I am working as a post-doctoral researcher in the Arhus School of Business in Denmark. In addition, I am an associate professor at Northeastern University in China. In the long run, I hope to develop and build my academic career in China and in an English-speaking country.
