I have been a senior manager in business for 16 years. I initially took up the challenge of MAMLL because I wanted my management skills to be recognised with a professional qualification at MA level.
I was welcomed on to the course because of my career background working in a people developement role in the financial services industry. The programme enlightened me and proved to be extremely rewarding.
The course is completely different to anything I have done previously. I was given the autonomy to research management issues using theoretical practices and linking them to what really happens in business. Areas which were of interest to myself were debated in learning sets, with my thought process being challenged by tutors and fellow students. This really made the course stand out amongst others because I was able to develop my learning on a daily basis as it resonated with my role as a people manager.
As a senior manager I have learned that reflecting is one of the attributes which will make me successful. On reflection, choosing MAMLL was one of the best career decisions I have made. The many hours of studying has paid off with the attainment of an MA qualification. However, most importantly I have also learned new skills from the course which I practise on a daily basis.
