BA Management & Organisation, 2011
Country of origin: UK
Graduate employer: Lloyds Banking Group
I chose to study Management and Organisation at LUMS due to the excellent reputations it had and the great course structure that it offered. When looking around for a degree I wanted something that offered something different to the typical business studies and management degrees, and the Management and Organisation degree was perfect for this.
This degree has helped me to build a range of different skills that have become relevant for both my working and personal life. When applying to graduate schemes I found that students from LUMS and Lancaster University were looked upon very favourably by all of the major graduate employers.
The degree I completed was a three-year course and during vacations I completed relevant work experience in order to help me when searching for graduate employment.
The facilities offered at LUMS are brilliant and while I was there a fantastic new building for several LUMS departments – including Organisation, Work and Technology (OWT) – opened. During my time at Lancaster I had a great time and the staff within the OWT department were more than willing to help with any queries. Throughout the course there was a structured support system in place to ensure that students had the right people to turn to, regardless of the situation.
Since graduating from LUMS I have taken up a graduate position within Lloyds Banking Group. From day one the skills I learnt from completing my Management and Organisation degree became relevant. I am working within business technology within the bank and I will be holding numerous leadership roles. In the future I hope to return to LUMS to complete further postgraduate qualifications.
