I graduated with a 2:1 in Finance in 2002 after three great, great years.
I found Lancaster just right from both a study and a social angle.
The modular nature of the degrees means that you can approach your first year with a good idea of what you want to study in the long term, but also with some potential options in mind. I started my degree as a joint major Finance and Economics student, but was able to move to a single major Finance in Part II.
Both the department's academic tutors and the Careers Service are very helpful, whether your question is about compound interest or careers in industry!
The collegiate nature of the campus also makes for an excellent social scene, whatever you're into - sports, music, culture or just relaxing in the bar. There is always every chance to get involved.
My degree was a perfect platform to launch into my career. I joined BT three months after graduating, on their Finance Graduate Scheme, and spent four years there in a variety of finance roles. During this time I studied for my CIMA qualification, achieving my Associate Chartered Management Accountant status during February 2006. Following a round-the-world trip, I started working for BSkyB in 2007, as a Finance Analyst. The breadth of subjects I studied at Lancaster – from core Accounting subjects, through Finance, Marketing, Statistics and my Independent Studies module – prepared me very well for CIMA and beyond.
