How can I contribute?
There are many ways to get involved, here are some of them:
- Act as an alumni adviser to future students
- Share your personal experiences through an alumni profile
- Organise a reunion and liaise with alumni in your area
- Act as a Career Mentor to a current student, or help at our Careers Fair
Student projects and placements – as you will remember from your time at Lancaster, projects and placements are a vital part of the programmes we teach. If you completed one yourself, you'll know what a great learning experience a project or placement can be, and what a tremendous benefit they can be for a company. Why not get your organisation to commission a project or placement?
- Recruit from LUMS – you've experienced the quality of your fellow students at LUMS for yourself. If your employer is not yet recruiting at LUMS, why not? It's your job to help them see the light!
- Executive development – you already know about Lancaster's top reputation for corporate and executive development; but does your employer? Encourage your employer to contact us for their executive and leadership development needs. They'll be in good company – we've been working with British Airways, Royal SunAlliance, BAE Systems, Total Oil, the NHS, Motorola and Hanson in recent years.
- Help to fund a range of support and development projects across the University. To find out how, contact Maggie Willan, LUMS Development Manager.

Taking our community forward
We are keen to work with alumni in the development and co-ordination of the LUMS alumni community and activities, in a way that is dynamic, flexible and responsive to the needs of the School and alumni themselves.
Towards this end, we are now establishing a new mechanism for the management of alumni relations. This mechanism will promote and co-ordinate alumni involvement through a series of projects, forums and surveys, with each element feeding into a developing strategy and action plan for LUMS alumni relations.
Co-ordination of the above structure will be managed by the LUMS Alumni & Development Office, in close collaboration with a LUMS Alumni Champion (currently Randall Zindler, MBA 1999, and CEO of Medair). The LUMS Alumni Champion also sits on the LUMS Advisory Board which ensures that alumni issues and strategy are strongly connected to the School’s overall direction.
LUMS Advisory Board
A number of senior executives—including Lancaster alumni—sit on the School’s Advisory Board, which meets twice a year to advise on LUMS strategy and direction.
Lancaster alumni currently on the Advisory Board are:-
Dr Brian Tempest, Chair (PhD Chemistry, 1971), Chairman of Hale and Tempest, and former CEO of Ranbaxy Laboratories
Mr Randall Zindler (MBA, 1999), CEO of Medair
Mr Mike Dormer (BA Economics, 1972; MA Economics 1973), Chairman of Neoss, and former Worldwide Chairman, Johnson and Johnson Medical Devices
Mr Gian Fulgoni (MA Marketing, 1970), Chairman of comScore Networks, Inc.
Mr Richard Cousins (MA Operational Research, 1981), CEO of Compass Group PLC
