The IEED is piloting a new Top Team programme. Drawing on the integrated learning model approach, and using some of the same interventions as in LEAD, the new programme will last seven months. The first cohort comprises of 14 senior managers from companies run by LEAD graduates.
Ian Gordon, Co-designer of the programme and founding entrepreneur in residence in the IEED said, “the Top Team programme recognises that LEAD alumni have senior managers working for them who have enormous technical expertise. They are good at doing their jobs. This programme aims to make them better able to make a meaningful contribution to strategic debate within the company. The purpose of that is to support the owner-manager as they develop the business.”
Head of Strategic Partnerships Magnus George added, “the Top Team programme benefits from our experience in running LEAD for eight years, and it draws on a lot of the expertise that has built up in the department. We see this new programme having great relevance for the LEAD alumni, who now number over 1,500. For that reason, this pilot is a great opportunity for us to refine our approach, and we will be running the Top Team programme at a full cohort scale, with 25 members, from the late autumn of 2012.”
The Top Team cohort will, over coming months, embark upon a mixed programme of events, including an overnight experiential event, business shadowing and exchanges, mentoring and a company-specific project.
