The Lancaster Forum is a business development programme for SME leaders. The Forum draws upon our research into how leaders develop and learn, incorporating our experience in working with businesses to enable us to tailor programmes to meet your needs. We utilise the Management School's unparalleled resources to provide world-class speakers to challenge your thinking and help you develop your business.

Ellie Hamilton, Director of IEED, and Ian Gordon, Lancaster's Entrepreneur in Residence, describe the Lancaster Forum in this video, which was made during a visit by Dan Hunt, one of British Cycling's senior national coaches.

The Forum gives you exclusive access to a wealth of knowledge and experience. Belonging to a group of like-minded business people allows you to share your experiences and learn from others who have been there. The combination of expert speakers and an experienced and knowledgeable group of peers provides a unique source, filter and accelerator for new ideas and change.

A typical Forum session incorporates an interactive talk on a relevant area of business and practical exercises to enhance and apply the learning. After lunch, a focused discussion session led by an experienced facilitator allows you to reflect on real situations and resolve real issues.

  • Forum speakers chosen for their knowledge and expertise around SMEs
  • Integrated practical exercises and management training techniques implement your learning in a practical situation
  • Discussion sessions led by an experienced facilitator enable sharing of experiences and resolving of issues
  • An online forum and resource library allows you to continue to discuss issues and ideas with your colleagues in between Forum sessions.

The Forum consists of six full days held on a bi-monthly basis.

Responses from members of the Forum include:

Hearing Forum members’ real experiences rather than just theory gives the sessions great authority” PM, Forum member

The interactive sessions have been a challenge and the results have made a real difference in how I deal with staff issues” AP, Forum member
