Lancaster University Management School and North West Co-operative Framework partnership

The Northwest Leadership Co-operative is a partnership between the Centre for Enterprise at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School (MMUBS) and the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development at Lancaster University Management School (LUMS).
The Co-operative has worked collaboratively to exploit the strengths in research, teaching and knowledge transfer activities at MMUBS and LUMS. The Co-operative has supported two synergistic but distinctly separate projects: at MMUBS the ‘Centre for Enterprise Leadership and Management’ project and at LUMS the ‘Entrepreneurship for Growth’ project. Both projects addressed the agenda for demand-led delivery within higher education.
Working in partnership has benefited the design, delivery and impact of both projects through:
- providing a forum for sharing best practice for SMEs in the financial and professional service sector
- providing an opportunity to debate, discuss and refine delivery with stakeholders and regional partners
- sharing contacts and impact across a diverse geographic locality
- enhancing delivery throughout the region through knowledge exchange
- raising awareness of the high quality of business support provided by HEIs
The Co-operative has been delivered through a number of well-attended steering group meetings supported by key stakeholders. The two project management teams have kept in contact with frequent communication. The cooperative has also strengthened relationships and collaborations between the two universities.
