- 2011 Award Winner: Mitch Vidler (Danone)
- 2010 Award Winner: Stephen Crossley (Accenture)
- 2009 Award Winners: Nicola Hatton (Savant Ltd) and Tim Hudson (Lane4 Management Group Ltd)
The 2008 award was dedicated to James Milnes in recognition of his outstanding personal development and contribution to the IEED knowledge transfer team during his placement year.
James enrolled on the BA (Hons) Management & Entrepreneurship in 2004. After initially finding the transition to higher education quite challenging, it was apparent, even by the end of his first year, that James's personal and academic confidence at University was beginning to grow. In 2006 James began his placement year within IEED, working with regional small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), providing market research consultancy and event coordination. Again after initially finding this new environment challenging, he soon became a valued and integral member of the team, receiving excellent feedback from the SMEs he worked with, and gaining increasing levels of responsibility in his events coordination role.
James sadly passed away in 2007 and he is still greatly missed by all of his colleagues and friends within IEED, and his fellow students.
The 2008 award was dedicated to James Milnes in recognition of his outstanding personal development and contribution to the IEED knowledge transfer team during his placement year. The £500 prize money was donated to Epilepsy Action.
The annual winner is presented with a prize certificate, £500 prize money and their name will be added to the award plaque.
Students can be nominated by their academic placement supervisor and/or employer. The nominator(s) will submit a brief case outlining the reasons why the student should be selected for the award. This could include overall contribution to the organisation, an outstanding achievement in a specific event or task, or be related to personal development, during the placement year.
There is an annual call for nominations, normally prior to Michaelmas term of the student's final year, and nominations will be reviewed by a panel, including the Programme Director and Head of Department. An award ceremony will then be held during the Summer term.
