Governance and Management Control
Research on Governance and Management Control is led by Professors Conyon, Otley, Peasnell, and Young. Dr. Wendy Beekes also works in this area in collaboration with Philip Brown (University of Western Australia), as do a number of finance colleagues including Dr. Shantanu Banerjee, Dr. Nick Carline, and Professor Bart Lambrecht.
Recent contributions to the field of Governance include work examining the impact of governance quality on the properties of reported earnings (Beekes), and research investigating the effect of firm performance on the market for outside (non-executive) directorships, and the link between share repurchase activity and firms’ governance arrangements (Young).
Recent contributions in the area of Management Control include Otley's widely cited work on management control systems and product innovation, and his work on the future direction of budgeting and budgeting research.
