Accreditation - Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)

CIMA exemptions have now been confirmed, for graduates from 2008 to 2012.  Graduates from previous years may contact Alex Errington in the Department for further advice, or access the CIMA website to view the exemption packages available for earlier graduating years.

However, all professional exemptions are subject to annual updates regarding university syllabus.  Therefore, we expect to confirm revisions to the following exemptions with CIMA for 2010 graduates onwards, notably regarding Ethics & Business Law (Paper C5).

Automatic exemption from Papers C1 to C4 of Stage 1 / CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting of the CIMA examinations is given to candidates attaining honours standard (i.e. class III or above) in the following degrees:

who have taken at Lancaster (and passed) each of the following components of the degree scheme:

AcF 100 Introduction to Accounting & Financial Management
AcF 212 Principles of Financial Accounting

AcF 213 a or b

Principles of Management Accounting

Managerial Level (Stage 2, formerly 'Intermediate' level)

Exemption was granted in respect of the following papers at Stage 2 (Intermediate or Managerial level) of the CIMA examination, provided that, where appropriate, certain optional modules are taken and passed. 

  • P1. Management Accounting Performance Evaluation (based on AcF 213 a or b plus AcF 303)
  • P7. Financial Accounting and Tax Principles (based on AcF 212213 a or b, 306 and 311)
  • P8. Financial Analysis (Stage 1 plus requirement for AcF 301308 and 311)
