Accreditation - Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS)

The ICAS examinations are completed at three stages/levels.  Lancaster has applied and gained exemptions for the first stage Test of Competence papers.  The following summarises the latest position for our graduates from 2008.

Test of Competence

Exemptions are available in respect of the Test of Competence to candidates attaining honours standard (i.e. class III or above) in the following degree programmes:-

The specific exemptions which were available in respect of the ICAS syllabus were as follows. Some exemptions are option specific.

Financial Accounting

AcF 100: Intro to Accounting and Finance
AcF 212: Principles of Financial Accounting
AcF 301: Financial Accounting I

Business Management

AcF 100: Intro to Accounting and Finance
AcF 213 a/b: Management Accounting for Business Decisions
MNGT 212: Statistical Methods for Business (or ECON 204 for Finance/ joint majors)
MSCI 224: Techniques for Management Decision Making (or MSCI 102/103)
AcF 303: Advanced Management Accounting

Business Law Subject to ongoing review of syllabus, for 2009 graduates onward.
Finance

AcF 100: Intro to Accounting and Finance
AcF 213 a/b: Management Accounting for Business Decisions
AcF 214 a or b: Principles of Finance
ECON 101 or ECON 102: Principles of Economics
Plus One Finance-related module is required to be completed in in Year 3

Auditing

AcF 212 or 222: Principles of Financial Accounting
AcF 211: AIS and Auditing
AcF 307: Auditing (students must achieve a mark of 60% or greater for the Auditing module)
