Academy for Women, Diversity and Leadership
The Academy for Women, Diversity and Leadership is a research forum based at Lancaster University Management School that aims to meet twice a year to share knowledge, to network and to identify new directions for research.
Established in response to a growing critical body of work concerned with women and diversity in leadership research, the Academy is directed by Dr Valerie Stead in the Department of Management Learning and Leadership at Lancaster University Management School.
The key purpose of the Academy is to promote learning, research and debate around issues of women, diversity and leadership by:
- Recognising that leadership is practised across a range of sites, including public service sector, entrepreneurship, small business sector, community, activist, not-for-profit and voluntary organisations.
- Acknowledging different concepts of leadership to include the leadership of communities; of ideas and social movements thereby extending the range of theoretical ideas brought to bear on issues of women, diversity and leadership.
- Attending to critical concepts, methodologies and debates that impact on research into women, diversity and leadership
