Operations Management degree requirements

Part I requirements for Operations Management majors

MSCI 100 Introduction to Business Analytics
and
MSCI 102 Operations Management

The combination of these (MSCI 100 and MSCI 102) makes up one Part I unit. Two other Part I units must also be chosen and it is recommended that at least one of these is from another department in the Management School.

You can discuss your choice of courses with the Part I Director of Studies, Mark Stevenson. A good opportunity to do this is at the 'Meet your major department' event during Intro Week.

Part II requirements for Operations Management majors

Compulsory half units are:

MSCI 281 Supply Chain Management;
MSCI 282 Quality and Risk Management;
MSCI 381 Demand Forecasting and Revenue Management;
MSCI 382 Innovative Development in Operations Management

Normally MSCI 281 and 282 are taken in the second year and MSCI 381 and 382 are taken in the final year. MSCI352 can only be taken in the final year.

MSCI 251 Integrated Project Management;
MSCI 252 Project Management & Consultancy Skills;

Minimum number of courses from the department

Including the compulsory courses above, Operations Management majors must take at least 5 units (i.e. 10 half unit courses) from the department's courses. Therefore, if you are taking less than 10 courses from the above list you must choose additional courses from the department (listed on the Part II page).

Students must take the equivalent of 16 half unit courses in total at Part II.

Notes

Recommended (but not compulsory) additional courses are:
MKTG 222 Introductory Marketing (unless MKTG 100 has already been taken)
OWT 208 Human Resources Management (unless OWT.100 has already been taken)

Students registered for the Operations Management (Industry) major scheme must fulfil the requirements for the Operations Management scheme given above, and in addition take the Action Learning unit, MNGT 350.

Students registered for the Operations Management (USA/Canada) major scheme need to discuss their choice of courses with the Part II Director of Studies, Paul Dunning-Lewis.
