The seminar aims to stimulate discourse and interest on gamification, i.e. the application of game design to business transformation and operation. The conference draws together a mixture of scholarship and industry practice.

There is enormous interest in this phenomenon and equally different interpretations and evaluations of it. Current practice is rather fixed on ‘badgification’ or ‘pointsification’ and is not exploiting the full potential of game design thinking. Why not? How do we make sense of this? What is the full potential and spectrum of ‘big’ gamification? Themes include: game technology /interaction systems, game design, stories/epic meaning structures, enterprise systems, aesthetics, mechanics, collaboration, and business models.

Seminar begins 9am closes 4pm

Lunch: 12pm

Key Speakers:

Dale Herigstad (Possible Worldwide, Minority Report)

Paul Coulton (Lancaster University, Mobile Radicals)

Dan Dixon (UWE)

John Easton (IBM Distinguished Engineer, CTO)
