Module 6: Preparing for Organisational Change

The cohort will work collaboratively to ensure all members leave with a research project plan that has been presented and tested with peers, academics and hospice leaders.

The introduction to research methods (module 5) will be expanded to cover challenging of researching in an organisation, ethics, power and supervision. The module is designed to build confidence and capability in conducting research before participants leave to start their work based research project.

IDP sessions will include Inner Game, self limiting beliefs and pull together all previous learning about leadership. This session is designed to support the participants at a key transition into a more substantial piece of research.

A second writing workshop will consolidate and build confidence in preparation for 15,000 word dissertations. The IDP goals developed in this workshop are focussed on the process of learning while conducting research and writing a dissertation. The goal will form the basis for a critical reflection section in the final dissertation.

Organisational research project and dissertation

The six taught modules will contribute to a sound platform for the final research project. Content learning will enable participants to identify and scope a key challenge they face in their hospice or service. Personal Mastery and subsequent IDP workshops will strengthen confidence. The structure approach to academic study and research skills will act as a springboard for the final challenge of the programme. Dedicated tutorial support will be available throughout all assignments including the dissertation phase.
