Beijing Foreign Studies University
Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) has been a long-standing partner and the collaborative activities have expanded over the past few years. Lancaster University cooperates with two faculties in BFSU - School of English and School of Business.
School of English runs a very successful foundation programme preparing Chinese students for their studies at Lancaster University. Most recently LUMS has developed a 2+2 programme that will prepare students at BFSU for progression to the following LUMS degree programmes: BSc Economics, BA Business Economics, BSc Accounting and Finance and BSc Business Studies.
School of English has also major input into running a summer school programme for Lancaster University students. For the past two years fifteen Lancaster University students selected on merit spent three weeks in Beijing learning about Chinese culture and language. Interest among Lancaster students is growing every year and this initiative has greatly contributed to better integration of our Chinese student community who are now meeting British students on the Campus keen to share their experience from China.

In December 2008 LUMS started discussions with School of Business about various possibilities of cooperation. The first project that was agreed in spring was a Study abroad opportunity for BFSU students from the School of Business who come to Lancaster University for one year as a part of their studies. For 2009/10 three students have been selected to come over to Lancaster University and they had a fantastic opportunity to meet the Summer school group in Beijing prior to their arrival at Lancaster.
