Advanced Decision Models

Overview

This elective will focus on a range of decision tools from the management sciences. It is designed to give you practical skills in the use of each and also the ability to identify when and how each technique can best be applied to solve specific business problems. The techniques covered include decision analysis and risk analysis but the module will concentrate particularly on two areas:

  • resource allocation using linear programming (enabling optimal use of resources and providing vital information for planning)
  • simulation (providing a way to experiment in complex situations and develop insights through analysing and comparing alternative decisions)
