Applied Project Management

This module focuses on the practical ‘real world’ application of the processes, tools and techniques learnt throughout the programme. Working in small teams you will be allocated to work in a client organisation and develop a robust plan for a significant piece of work. This plan will be executed in the subsequent module ‘Applied Project Management Research Project’ and therefore needs to be thorough, practical and achievable.

The full life-cycle of the project must be considered in this plan. For example, you will draw upon problem solving and process skills to identify the scale and scope of the project. You will apply the project management toolkit (foundation and advanced level) to this ‘problem situation’ and to structure the solution. You will blend into this mix key elements of the commercial aspects of  project management (to create and demonstrate a business case) as well as keeping a close eye on the topics of motivation, teamwork, leadership, change management etc. drawn from the modules on behavioural aspects of project management, process consultancy and change management.
