Application and selection process

Closing date for applications

There is no formal closing date for applications to the programme but you are strongly advised to apply early as places fill quickly. Most places are allocated between January and June. If you are considering applying for scholarships or bursaries, you should also note any closing dates which apply to these.

Selection process

We try to assess applications as quickly as possible, once we have all the necessary information. We assess you on the basis of your application form, looking not only at your academic background and other qualifications but also your rationale for doing the programme and how it fits with your career plans. It is therefore important that you think carefully about this section of the application form.

If we offer you a place, we ask you to respond within eight weeks of receiving the formal offer letter. If this is not possible, please contact the MSc Office. If we do not hear from you within eight weeks, we cannot guarantee that a place will remain available.

When you accept an offer you will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of £500 to secure your place. This sum is then later deducted from your programme fees at registration.

Finding out more

Applicants are welcome to visit the School for informal discussions about the programme and to see the various campus facilities. To arrange a visit, please get in touch with us. There is also a School-wide Postgraduate Open Day once a year (usually in January or February), where you can talk to staff about any of the School’s taught Masters programmes.

If you are based outside the UK, you may be able to talk with a member of staff at one of the overseas recruitment fairs we attend. You may also find it helpful to talk to one of the School's international agents.
