Case Study Examination
Timing and duration: 13 hours, Summer Term
Module leader: Ian Cammack
Overview
The case study exam is a core module of the Project Management programme, designed to help you pull together the various aspects of management covered over the previous two terms. The specific problem situation set for the case study will be a complex and multi-dimensional one, requiring elements of strategic thinking to evaluate the breadth and depth of the situation and to assess which projects should (or could) be conducted. Those projects are then scoped, defined and planned, using project management methodologies.
The case study allows you to show your ability to assimilate and process information from various sources and to analyse the problem situation from various perspectives. For example, you will be asked to draw upon:
- strategic thinking to evaluate the breadth and depth of the situation
- project management to scope, define and plan the solution
- financial management to evaluate the implications of the proposed solution
- change management to evaluate and enhance the cultural fit of the solution
