Mindful Manager May 2011

In May 2011 students on the Full-time MBA spent a day at Forrest Hills – a local training and development centre – as part of the Mindful Manager programme. Unique to Lancaster, the Mindful Manager runs throughout the MBA programme and helps students develop the self-awareness, critical-thinking skills and team-working competences that are vital to effective managing.

The day was designed with two objectives. The first was to give the MBAs some space and time to reflect on the course, the impact it has had on them, and where they want to go from now. The second was to allow them to assess how their team working and behaviour in groups has developed over the past year with a final team challenge. The class begin the year with an outdoor team-building exercise in the Lake District and so taking them outdoors again was an ideal way for the students to assess their development. Set on the edge of the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Forrest Hills provided an ideal location both for reflection and fun!
