Dr Dieter Helm: Climate Change Policy after Copenhagen (full interview)

Dr Dieter Helm of Oxford University was the speaker at the Esmée Fairburn Lecture on 9 November. In his lecture, Dieter argued that we are now awash with gas from shale - so prices wouldn’t rise, AND CO2 would fall, if we switched from coal to gas in the short to medium term. A carbon tax would promote research into cheaper alternatives than offshore wind. And a tariff on imports from countries that don’t have a carbon tax would encourage them to adopt one.

Following the lecture Dieter was interviewed by Professor Ian Walker of Lancaster's Economics Department. This video covers the full interview.
