New national taught-course centre in operational research
Published 26 March 2007
Lancaster University Management School has been funded by the UK research council, EPSRC, to establish a UK-wide taught-course centre for PhD students in Operational Research (NATCOR), with Professor Kevin Glazebrook (Management Science and Mathematics and Statistics) as Director of the Centre.
Lancaster will head a consortium of some of the UK’s leading providers of advanced training in OR to develop a programme of distance learning and residential courses for PhD students in their first two years of study.
This is a wholly novel initiative which will lead to a considerable strengthening of PhD programmes to the long-term benefit of UK research. For Lancaster doctoral students it will offer the sustained in-depth training previously only available in the USA.
