Lancaster University Summer School in China
Published 28 January 2008
An exciting opportunity for Lancaster students to learn more about China and Chinese culture.
Lancaster University has invited applications from suitably qualified students to become one of fifteen students to participate in a specially designed three-week Summer School at Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), in July 2008. Beijing Foreign Studies University is one of China’s leading universities in the teaching of foreign languages and cultures and is Lancaster’s longest standing partner in China.
During their time at BFSU, the students will follow an intensive programme of Mandarin classes, lectures on Chinese culture and society, and elective classes, for example, in Chinese film, Tai Chi or calligraphy. There will also be opportunities for visits to cultural sites and events.
Students selected from across the University to participate in the Summer School will be provided with University scholarships to cover the cost of international travel, tuition fees and accommodation (which will be provided on the BFSU campus).
Applications were submitted before a January deadline, with interviews and final selections taking place in February. The chosen group, who will be accompanied by a member of staff from the University, will then undertake a 10 hour orientation and induction programme before they leave for China.
