During the six-week period, Katherine and Kristine completed research in order to suggest improvements for the LUMS Alumni Office. Thirty-four business school websites were studied and two visits were conducted in order to gain more information as to what services and benefits other institutions across the globe offer to their alumni.
Websites included those of business and management schools within the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, and Europe, and visits included useful interviews at Manchester Business School and the University of Edinburgh Business School.
The data collected during this website analysis was reduced to eight categories which included
- membership and organisation
- branded merchandise
- communications
- events
- services
- discounts
- career services
- opportunities for involvement
The collated data was reviewed to determine current trends in alumni relations. Recommendations for the LUMS Alumni Office were made based on the collated data from websites and the visits.
Susan Lucas, Alumni Officer, said:
“We were delighted that the students from Ohio were able to use their experience and expertise to help us to understand better the needs of our alumni.
“Their recommendations are very useful and will help us to refocus and improve our provision of services to our alumni worldwide.”
