ICONS 2009 - NAIJA NA WAH!
Published 5 April 2009
A delegation of Nigerian students at Lancaster was supported by LUMS to attend this year’s International Conference for Nigerian Students (ICONS) held on 4-5 April at Hull University Business School.
This is an annual education and careers networking event which was founded and developed by Nigerian graduate alumni from Lancaster, including the inspirational Dr Ife Akintunde, Dr Akan Odon, Bamidele Adebesi and Valentine Ururuka.

Lancaster students Busayo, Dipo, Alice, Pelumi and Rotimi at the event.
During the weekend, students gave presentations about their fields of work and study and also shared ideas helpful for other Nigerian students contemplating life and opportunities after graduation in the UK. Two excellent presentations were given by Lancaster students Obinna Ajuruchi, MSc IT and Data Communications, and Foluke Ipinyomi, Phd in International Law.

Abiola, Obinna and Rotimi, Lancaster students, with Matthew, Hull University International Officer and Helen, LUMS International Officer.
A highlight was the big Saturday night party, with fantastic music, dance, poetry and Nigerian foods.
If you are a Nigerian student at Lancaster, or at another university in the UK, you can find out more about ICONS via the Xn Foundation. You can also visit uknawah.com, which is a recently launched new education forum for Nigerians studying in the UK.
