Celebrating 10 years of MSc Management
Published 10 September 2009
On Saturday 5th September, the MSc in Management celebrated ten successful years of the programme with an anniversary ball. Since its creation in 1999, the MSc has grown substantially, not only in terms of student numbers, but through the introduction of associated MScs in Management and Marketing, and Management and Law. The programme has also achieved AMBA accreditation, alongside the Management School’s EQUIS and AACSB accreditation.
The ball took place at The Power Hall of the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry, against the original backdrop of steam engines. A string quartet accompanied the champagne reception and dinner, with jazz music for dancing then provided by King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys. The programme team were delighted that all tickets for the event were taken long in advance of the night, with alumni from across the years of the programme rubbing shoulders and networking with students from the 2008/2009 cohort and staff.

Dr Caroline Elliott, Director of the Masters Programmes in Management, said "We were delighted that so many alumni came to the anniversary ball, particularly as many had flown in specifically for the event, as had Martien Lubberink who now works at The Bank of the Netherlands. The night was also special as two couples who had each met on the programme and who are now married came back to celebrate the programme’s 10th anniversary."
