Gulf One Lancaster Centre for Economic Research (GOLCER) delivered three highly successful training programmes in "Budgeting and Forecasting for Business Professionals" in the Middle East and Africa this year.
A recent four-day course, delivered in Bahrain in October, was attended by over 30 international delegates from many different backgrounds, countries and businesses, including Saudi Arabia, Tunisia and Bahrain. The majority of participants worked in the banking sector, but petrochemicals, manufacturing and retail were also represented within the group.
The course was held in collaboration with the Bahrain Centre for Studies and Research (BCSR). The Secretary General of BCSR, Dr Abdulla Alsadiq, is an alumnus of Lancaster University. The event was attended by another Lancaster alumnus, Dr Mohammed Salisu (Gulf One Investment Bank’s Chief Economist), and also by the Executive Director of GOLCER, Dr Marwan Izzeldin.

GOLCER ran two similar courses in Nigeria in March and July 2009. July's course, run in Abuja, was attended by 25 delegates from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC). Delegates from the two courses were awarded certificates of attendance from Lancaster University Management School.
GOLCER is running a four-day course on business intelligence in Nigeria this November. Additional training events in both Lancaster and at international venues in Bahrain and Nigeria, are currently being organised.
