Professor Bill Cooke has received a £7000 award from the British Academy for a project entitled “Administrative Modernization in Brazil: Restoring Voice to Brazilian Intellectuals”.
Bill says: “Management and organizational history is a new and exciting field. In this project I combine three of my research interests: the history of management ideas, Brazil, and the uses of management in international development.
“With my Brazilian colleague, Professor Rafael Alcadipani, I will be researching Ford Foundation archives in New York. In an innovation in this field, we will also be interviewing Brazilian management scholars sponsored by the Ford Foundation in the 1970s. It’s a small amount of money, but I believe a lot can be done, and Brazil is a very important country.”
