At a recent meeting in Austin, Texas, Graham Rand, of the Department of Management Science, was elected President-elect of Omega Rho, the International Honour Society. Omega Rho seeks to recognise academics and high-flying operational research graduates and encourage leadership in operational research, management science and related disciplines.

Graham's term of office will lead into a two-year period as President in 2012-2013. He will be the 19th President of the Society, but the first not based at an American University.

This appointment follows eight years as European Director. Omega Rho was founded in 1976: the society has 39 collegiate chapters and more than 6000 student and faculty members. It is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies.
