Dr John Whittaker was interviewed on BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio Five Live on 25 August. He was discussing the request of the Greek premier, Antonis Samaras, to Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande, for an easing of Greece’s austerity programme.

He predicted that the outcome will be the usual compromise which addresses none of the fundamental problems of Greece or the eurozone. Meanwhile, the uncertainty continues to damage confidence in the eurozone and elsewhere, including in Britain.
