Three LUMS undergraduates have been successful in securing places at Sun Yat Sen University’s International Summer Programme and have each been awarded studentships of £1,000 by the Lancaster China Management Centre towards their flights and accommodation costs.
Sun Yat Sen is a LUMS partner university based in Guangzhou, in the south of China. The International Summer Programme (ISP) is a three-week intensive programme which combines academic studies, such as doing business in China, with cultural experiences, such as studying Mandarin and Chinese calligraphy.
The three students, Sonya Puthuparambil (Euro BBA), Moyo Oyelade and Alexandra Sternfeld-Cassanov (both HRM) were selected for this opportunity after explaining at interview how they will use their experience of the Sun Yat Sen ISP to benefit the wider student community at Lancaster.
The three students, who are currently participating in the LUMS Transition Guide Scheme, explained how mentoring their Chinese student ‘guidees’ throughout the scheme had initially sparked their interest in applying for the International Summer Programme at Sun Yat Sen University.
We wish Alex, Sonya and Moyo all the best for their summer adventures in China.
