Clare ChapmanLUMS alumna Clare Chapman, a graduate of the MA in Management Learning (MAMLL), has been voted number two in HR Magazine's list of the 2009 'Top 30 HR Practitioners'.

Clare graduated from Lancaster in 1990, and is now director-general, workforce, for the National Health Service. She was previously personnel director for Tesco.

Speaking at the awards ceremony in London, Clare said: "This is a massively important time for our profession. We have huge challenges to face this year - but I look forward to seeing some really innovative practice which we can celebrate this time next year. My real hope is that we'll all use our leadership and the HR profession to secure, rather than erode, trust in the workplace, and be proud of how we've handled the downturn".

Lancaster's MA in Management Learning and Leadership is a part-time executive programme that encourages participants to take on challenges by providing the space and support to reflectively engage, innovate and experiment with practice.
