Networking at the Work Foundation: Lancaster MBA alumni in London
Published 19 April 2012
The Lancaster MBA team hosted one of its regular alumni networking events at the Work Foundation in London in March 2012. The focus of the event was career development, with speakers from several organisations including IBM.
Dr Jonathan Matheny, Director of MBA programmes at Lancaster, explains: “We're here tonight for networking, but this is far more than a networking session. Lancaster is working on an alumni engagement programme. We're working with our alumni on how we can help them advance their careers long after they graduate.”
The evening event focused on career development, with three short presentations from external speakers.
“Tonight's presentations were very interesting,” said alumnus Fredrik Sandvall, who graduated in 2008, “The three speakers really complemented each other. I especially liked the speaker from IBM, a very senior person whom I could relate to.”
Bill Payne, Vice President of CRM and Industries for IBM's Global Process services division, summed up the attraction of attending the event: “It was an absolute pleasure to be here on behalf of IBM tonight. I think the thing that I find most inspiring about coming out on a Friday night to an alumni event like this, is that this is a bunch of spiky, spicy Lancaster people, and they've all got really sharp brains - they really want to be here. I get a buzz from being with people like this who are excited about their future.”
Lancaster is committed to strengthening and supporting its entire MBA alumni network - and has more events planned for the future.
