The LUMS Careers, Alumni and Employer Relations team hosted the first Lancaster Careers Connect event at The Work Foundation in London on 3rd February.

Recent LUMS graduates came from across London to connect with fellow alumni and share experiences, while gaining insights into becoming more strategic about their careers and developing tactics to make themselves more employable.

Ajaz Hussain, LUMS Postgraduate Careers Adviser, explained: “The event opens up new possibilities for strengthening the professional development and networks of LUMS alumni.”

A highlight of the event was the contribution by Lancaster graduate Mark Knapper (BA History, 1981), Managing Director of Astralis Group Executive Recruitment, who provided delegates with plenty to think about regarding recruiter expectations from different industries, first impressions and how to make yourself more marketable.

Vasiliki Papou (MSc Accounting & Financial Management, 2010) was one of the event attendees. She said: “I found the event very informative and helpful. It gave me a good opportunity to network and re-connecet with Lancaster University Alumni. I am now very thrilled to become a more active member of the community and provide my ideas and help in organising similar events.”
