A group of Chinese and English undergraduate students produced an outstanding business plan in their final year undergraduate module winning the Yorkshire Bank prize, which was awarded by Mr Kevin Sanderson of Yorkshire Bank.

Two Chinese and four English students have worked together in a team since October 2009 on the Entrepreneurship module, New Venture Planning, and produced an outstanding business plan that launched a new business idea in china supplying photoluminescent tiles for the Chinese leisure market.  “Qiujie Chen, Xiaoya Cheng, Robert Dawson, James Grimsditch, Grant Newlands and Victoria Roberts went the extra mile to produce a business plan that was innovative, exciting and entrepreneurial” said Ian Gordon, Course Director.  This course considers the nature of business planning with students working in small groups researching and developing a business plan for a new venture and is a complex task that brings with it many learning benefits.  For the last two years Yorkshire Bank has been delighted to support this experiential course with a significant cash prize for the best plan.  In a tough competition this year this group stood out with the quality of their plan that presented an entirely believable strategy for success.   Mr Kevin Sanderson of Yorkshire Bank said he was delighted to present this cash prize of £500 to the group and welcomed the opportunity of being directly involved with this type of programme.  “in an increasingly difficult economic world, it is refreshing to see young men and women so actively engaged with this entrepreneurial process”.
