Arvind Ramdoyal has been awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship for his MSc in International Business at Lancaster University Management School.

He said he was thrilled with the scholarship, which covers tuition fees and living costs.

“The MSc in International Business at LUMS was definitely among the first ones that came to my mind, since LUMS has a great reputation in the UK as well as in Europe, and I finally applied for it together with the Commonwealth Scholarship. It is a great feeling when you are referred to as a ‘Commonwealth Scholar’.”

Arvind's first degree was in finance from the University of Mauritius. He followed this with a year in the Investor Services Department of the Standard Bank in Mauritius.

“My job was all about liaising with clients and brokers for equity trades. But I knew something was lacking since my first degree did not focus on the international aspects which are very important in this globalised environment. This motivated my decision to go for a Masters degree that would give me an international flavour on issues relating to economics and finance.”

He intends to return to Mauritius to continue his career.

“I am sure that the Master degree from LUMS will prepare me to face the various challenges in the highly dynamic and evolving global business environment.”
