Study Abroad Fair 2010
Published 18 November 2010
First-year LUMS undergraduates gathered in the Hub on 3 November for a unique 'Study Abroad Fair'. The fair was just one part of an afternoon packed full of activities, including presentations and discussions, designed to give students a taste of the excitement of a year spent overseas at one of Lancaster's partner universities. Find out more in this video.
Giving students the opportunity to spend part of their Lancaster degree abroad has been something the University International Office has developed over many years.
BBA student Harriet Kershaw talks about the year she spent at Monash University in Australia as part of her Lancaster degree.
The demand from the Lancaster students is increasing every year because they really see the value of studying abroad. Studying abroad offers students a unique opportunity to experience a new culture, gain independence, and also impresses future employers.
This year LUMS students who have returned from their Study Abroad year in the USA and Canada came up with an idea to organise a Study Abroad Fair to raise awareness of opportunities.
One of the organisers, Tim McKenzie, wanted to share his enthusiasm and, together with Emma Jaremko from the LUMS International Office, organised an exciting event showcasing the countries our students can chose to go to.
Co-organiser Tim Mckenzie describes the year he spent at the University of Iowa in the USA as part of his Economics degree at Lancaster.
We hope that the fair will open up this unique opportunity to many students, and contribute significantly to their employability.
