Elite business leaders climb to success

The first graduates from The Manufacturing Institute's MSc in Manufacturing Leadership celebrated success when they were awarded their degrees last month by mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington, Chancellor of Lancaster University. The MSc was developed specifically for manufacturers by The Manufacturing Institute in partnership with Lancaster University Management School.
The Independent: 'How to manage a crisis'

Dr Sally Watson, Director of Executive Education at LUMS, is quoted in a story in The Independent on business leadership during a time of crisis. Describing a recent two-day programme in which she took eight company directors to Malham in the Yorkshire Dales to share ideas on coping with economic turbulence, she said: "The course led to immediate outcomes, with every second Monday now devoted to a meeting on scenario-planning, mapping solutions to problems they're facing. We're moving away from futuristic creativity on the one hand and tried-and-tested solutions on the other - you may have been around in the middle Eighties recession, but this isn't the middle Eighties."
