Graham Rand at the Edelman 2012 Gala Dinner
The Edelman Gala took place on 16 April 2012 at INFORMS Conference on Business Analytics and Operations Research in Huntington Beach, California.
Robert Fildes reports that Graham's compering of the event was witty, and conducted with his usual charm as he introduced the various prize winners.
Graham has been very involved with INFORMS over the years, serving on many committees including judging and coaching finalists for the Edelman Gala. He recently joined the editorial board of Interfaces as book reviews editor. Graham was elected President-Elect of Omega Rho, the international honor society for OR, in 2010. He will serve a two-year term as president beginning in 2012.
Graham has been honored with the Companionship of Operational Research, one of the highest awards bestowed by the Operational Research Society. He has had a long and distinguished career serving as editor in chief of scholarly journals, organising major OR conferences, and supporting the development of OR in developing countries.
