19 Lancaster alumni attended the 2012 British Council Grand Reunion event in Bangkok on 28th January. The Lancaster group was one of the biggest at the event and represented the University well. This annual event is a great opportunity for Lancaster alumni to reconnect, and also to network with alumni from other UK universities. Those attending agreed that this was the best British Council event yet.

Our alumni were joined at the event by LUMS’ International Office representative, Emma Jaremko, and Head of LUMS Careers, Alumni & Employer Relations, Louise Briggs who updated them on the latest news from Lancaster and enjoyed hearing about the various career paths taken by alumni since graduating, as well as sharing Lancaster memories with attendees.

Emma’s visit to Thailand was part of an annual schedule of student recruitment visits. Interest in LUMS’ programmes is increasing in Thailand and Emma would like to thank two of our alumni who kindly volunteered their time to help at the Bangkok recruitment fairs: Chalita Santatisup (MSc Management, 2002) and Bill Pritchard (BA Economics, 1979; MA Trade & Development, 1980).

The focus of Louise’s visit was on employability – gaining insights into the Thai recruitment market and building connections with major employers, to better support our graduates returning to work in Thailand. Louise visited UNICEF, PwC, Accenture and Bangkok Bank and commented "I was really pleased to visit these organisations who are delighted to receive applications from our Thai students studying at LUMS".
