KTP Research Grant for Dr Stefanos Mouzas

Dr Stefanos Mouzas of the Department of Marketing, in collaboration with Dr James Faulconbridge of the Lancaster Environment Centre, has been awarded a UK government-funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership grant that enables organisations to take advantage of the wide range of expertise available at Lancaster University.
The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is between Energy Efficiency Company (EEC) and Lancaster University and the area of interest is Carbon Management (related to Carbon Offsets, Trading and Verification).
EEC’s key challenge is to gain knowledge of the market and to plan for the development of resource that will allow entry into this market so as to address the needs of existing and potential clients. The Partnership will involve the recruitment of a KTP Research Associate working with EEC and supported by Lancaster University. The Research Associate will carry out a programme of work designed to facilitate transfer of knowledge, skills and technology central to the company's business. The outcome for the company will be improved performance, as measured by profitability and competitiveness.
Dr Mouzas' research interests focus on the scholarly theme ‘Contracting in Networks’. The objective of his research is to identify how companies mobilise other firms and how companies interact in their decisions to do business together. Carbon Management is a new area and a challenge for many companies. Companies are aware that carbon trading, offsetting and verifying is bound by technical, legislative, political, economic and social considerations. Developing understanding and recognition of these issues, the historical context of activities to date and likely future trajectories is, therefore, vital before any business plan is put in place. Developing such a knowledge-base, however, requires a huge amount of time and intellectual rigour which are not always available within individual companies. Collaboration with academics and the resultant knowledge transfer will allow the required expertise to be gained.
